Our story

Nepali food, cooked properly, in Auckland

We opened Snax in Auckland CBD to serve the food we grew up eating, not a softened version of it.

Nepali food travelled to New Zealand mostly inside Indian restaurants, a plate of momos tucked at the end of a curry menu, cooked by someone who learned them second-hand. It never quite tasted like home. Snax exists to fix that.

Our menu brings together momos, buff sukuti chowmein, sekuwa, thukpa and sadheko, alongside the achar, spice and familiar flavours that make them Nepali.

We also serve burgers, fish and chips, loaded fries and bao buns, and we're not apologetic about it. Snax sits in the middle of a working city, and part of the job is feeding whoever walks through the door. A table where one person wants buff momos and another wants a Kiwi burger is exactly the table we built this for.

What doesn't move is the point of the menu: recognisable Nepali flavours, clear choices and food that fits a city lunch break.

“Serve the food we'd serve at home, at the speed a city lunch break actually runs.”

We're growing across New Zealand, one kitchen at a time, and the standard travels with us: Nepali flavours, a broad menu and straightforward service.

What we serve

A menu built for the whole table

Momos and achar

Chicken, buff and vegetarian momos served with tomato achar.

Nepali favourites

Sukuti chowmein, sekuwa, thukpa, sadheko and aloo snacks all have a place on the menu.

Plenty of flavour

More than momos

Burgers, fried chicken, wraps, bao and loaded fries cover the rest of the table.
